Your leaves are weathered through the beams of sunlight your auburn cherry color leaves you are 100 maybe less and maybe more but you are old and that’s for sure and I long to ask you why you’ve seen many battles in lost in your day you watched as the Ku Klux Klan came by your way I know you had to hold your anger when they hung that man on you swung a rope right over your branches and swung his body through and I long to ask you why sycamore tree time takes its consequence and you were always mine. I was too young to be told you were our oxygen and we cut you down despite. I don’t know and I can’t see so I’m running away, where they can’t catch me you watched as Franklin Delano Rosevelt walked proudly by people were coming in from all around.
